The random selection of photos that follow include some Sealink photos in addition to the Bank Line. Originally intended to compliment my book called ” Any Budding Sailors?” This site will eventually go over to being a comprehensive record of the Bank Line story, accompanied by photos of ships from 1885 to 1985. Comments and additional ship photos from readers are very welcome. Please email aar@btopenworld.com

  1. Just bought you’re merchant navy apprentice book. Always think, by the grace of God! My family were seafarers from Ynys Mon. Grandfather was in deep sea sail and then a 1st mate on Mersey dredgers. Dad and his two brothers went to sea. Dad was a chief engineer, for some years with MacAndrews. I used to wonder why they were agents for UBC and Bank Line, when I used to visit the office, with my parents. Dad’s last deep sea trip was on the Newbeach, former Rosebank. I saw the Nessbank c1979 in the Liverpool docks, fine sight. I was terrible at maths, so I didn’t go to sea. Regards Bob Hughes

    1. Hallo Bob,

Great to hear from you and thanks for buying the book… Looking back, Macandrews (and UBC) were very interesting companies, but being away for 2 years, e were a bit ‘ sniffy’ at that time! How times change.

All the very best /Alan R. P.S. Please email me at aar@btopenworld.com if you reply as this site is a nightmare to navigate.
