Marabank was my last Bank Line ship. She was a great ship, well proportioned and comfortable. I was Snr App at the time and decided to run away to land, as the morale of the apps was not good, due to ongoing interference and what was tantamount to a total indifference by the mate and to an extent the old man.
I regret to this day having “departed” the vessel the way I did, but hindsight, like trying to see what the future holds is a waste of energy.
I have to say that I hold very dear the memories of Bank Line, which I see as the finest tramp ship company ever, anywhere, despite having been one of its “black sheep”!
