I only wished that I had served on this ship longer. I joined in Bathurst Gambia, with a brand new 2nd Mates Certficate ( relieved the author). Capt Mendus was a great mentor and I enjoyed my time aboard this vessel. I was transferred to the Cloverbank in Calcutta whilst the Irisbank was loading for the UK on a Brocklebank charter.
Hi Mike, Our old ship! Jimmy Scobbie 2/0 in the pics is in Colchester, but with poor health. He will be 88 in July. The apprentice in uniform is Joe Coghill who sadly passed away last year.
